Volkswagen has launched two generations of Volkswagen Tiguan since 2007.
First Generation (2007-2015)
The first generation was launched as a 5-door SUV. It came with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine combined with a 6-speed manual/6-speed automatic transmission. In some markets, it was also available with a 1.4L four-cylinder and a 1.8L four-cylinder engine.
A facelift version was launched with bolder and more angular headlights in 2012. The prominent horizontal grill bars of the Golf were also added.
Second Generation (2016-Present)
The second generation was launched as a 5-door SUV and a 5-door coupe SUV. It comes with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with 8-speed automatic transmission. In some markets, it was launched with a 1.4L turbocharged and a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
A facelift version was launched with new LED tail lights, bonnet, and rear diffuser in 2020. A new touchscreen display is also offered with a redesigned center dashboard.
