Scion iQ Brief History
The Scion iQ, also known as the Toyota iQ, was first introduced in Japan in 2008 as a subcompact hatchback. It was marketed as a city car that was small, efficient, and easy to park in tight spaces.
In 2011, the Scion iQ was introduced to the United States and Canada as a 2012 model, becoming the smallest car in the Scion lineup. It featured a 1.3-liter engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and was praised for its maneuverability and fuel efficiency.
The Scion iQ was discontinued in the United States in 2015 due to slow sales but continued to be sold in other markets under the Toyota brand. It was eventually replaced by the Toyota Aygo, which was designed for the European market.
Evolution of Scion iQ
Scion iQ was launched with a 1.3L four-cylinder engine combined with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The company also decided to introduce the EV version of this vehicle that was exhibited as the Scion iQ EV at the 2011 General Motor Show. The EV version can be recharged within 3 hours.
But its battery capacity was also pretty low. The battery can be recharged up to 80% within 15 minutes if you’re using fast charging. However, the company only produced limited units of electric vehicles. And these units were delivered to several institutes.
