Saab 92 Brief History
Saab 92 was the first production car introduced by Saab in 1949. This vehicle offered a drag coefficient of 0.30. Therefore, it was considered one of the most aerodynamic cars at that time. The entire body was stamped out of one piece of sheet metal.
The company initially advertised a standard version of this car but it wasn’t officially launched because the customers didn’t show any interest. Therefore, the company only introduced the Deluxe version of this car. It came with a 764 cc two-stroke engine that was capable of producing 25 horsepower. The horsepower was increased to 35 in 1952.
This vehicle was equipped with a freewheel device that was aimed at fixing the oil starvation problem. All the early models of this car were painted in a dark green color. Later on, the company introduced more color options to accommodate the needs of the customers. The US headlights were replaced by Hella units in 1954.
Around 20,128 units of this vehicle were produced. The company discontinued the production of this vehicle in early 1957.
