Mercedes Benz has launched five generations of Mercedes Benz C Class since 1993.
First Generation (1993-1999)
The first generation was launched as a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon. It came with a 2.2L inline-four and a 2.8L V6 engine. A 2.3L four-cylinder engine joined the lineup in 1997. The company also added a 4.3L V8 engine in 1999. It was available as a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Second Generation (2000-2006)
The second generation was launched with three engine options including a 2.6L V6, 3.2L V6, and a 2.3L Supercharged four-cylinder engine. A 1.8L supercharged four-cylinder engine joined the lineup in 2003. A facelift version was introduced in 2005 with a new dashboard and instrument cluster. Furthermore, a 5.4L V8 engine was also introduced in 2005.
Third Generation (2007-2013)
The third generation was available as a 3-door liftback. 4-door sedan, 5-door station, and 2-door coupe. It was launched with three engine options including a 3.0L V6, 3.5L V6, and a 6.2L V8. It was available as a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Fourth Generation (2014-2020)
The fourth generation was introduced as a 4-door sedan, 5-door station wagon, 2-door cabriolet, and 2-door coupe. It was launched with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four and a 3.0L Twin-turbo V6 engine. It was available as a 7-speed automatic and a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Fifth Generation (2021-Present)
The fifth-generation comes as a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon. It comes with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.0L twin-turbo V6, and a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine. It’s available as a nine-speed automatic transmission.
