Lexus LX Brief History
Lexus LX was launched as a full-size luxury SUV in 1995 as the model year 1996. It’s the largest and most expensive luxury SUV introduced by Lexus. It’s based on the Toyota Land Cruiser’s platform. It was initially launched with a straight-six engine but the company started using the V8 engine in 1998.
The company claims that LX stands for “Luxury Crossover”. But some importers say that it represents “Luxury Four Wheel Drive”.
Evolution of Lexus LX
Lexus has launched four generations of Lexus LX since 1995.
First Generation (1995-1997)
The first generation was launched with a 4.5L inline-six engine. It was available as a 4-speed automatic transmission. It offered seating space for seven passengers.
Second Generation (1998-2006)

In 2005, VVT-i was added to the engine due to which it started producing 275 horsepower. The redesigned LED taillamps were also added in 2005.
Third Generation (2007-2020)
