How the Company Got Started
Created in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the company was born out of rivalry against another popular luxury vehicle company – Ferrari. Lamborghini got his start making tractors, which elicited more success than he could have imagined. He also made military equipment, air-conditioning, and heating systems. Because of his success, he was able to afford Ferrari cars. After brainstorming some ways to make the Ferrari car better, he began making his own vehicles. When the company was officially created, they released the 350 GTV, which was a stellar first model. Despite being created out of spite, Lamborghini found its place among the top luxury car manufacturers in the world. Currently, the company is owned by the Volkswagen group.
The Logo
According to 1000 Logos, the Lamborghini company is big on “legacy, quality, and exquisite style.” Because of this, the logo has not seen much change in its 60-year history. It has always featured a bull, the sign of the Taurus – which is also Ferruccio Lamborghini’s astrological sign. The black and gold color scheme accurately reflects the stylish and sleek design that all Lamborghini cars possess.
Sales
Lamborghini has always been successful in whatever market they are present in, simply because they are such a recognizable brand. According to CarSalesBase, the company has (speculatively) sold slightly more than 9,400 cars since 2001. Although this may seem like a small number, keep in mind that Lamborghini’s entire brand is based on exclusivity. They only make a certain amount of units per model per year, so there aren’t many that are up for grabs.
Lamborghini’s European sales have been equally as successful. Since 2017, they have seen a significant jump in sales. In 2021, they sold 2,235 units – the most they have ever sold in that market.

Most Popular Model
Out of all the Lamborghini models made in the company’s 60 year history, the Gallardo has been the most produced and sold the most units. It was available from 2003-2013, giving it 10 years to dominate the automotive market. According to statistics, there were only 14,000 units made of this particular model.
In 2020, Best Selling Cars reported that the Urus was the highest-selling model – making it the most popular one model in recent history. Made and Manufactured
All Lamborghini models are imported from their factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. This is where all their models are designed, made, and manufactured.
Sustainability
In 2021, the company received the Green Star Award – a demonstration of their commitment to sustainability. They also released a new statement about this commitment to creating a better environment, stating in a press release with Volkawagen: “‘We are ready to accelerate our commitments in regard to environmental sustainability, with an announcement coming soon. We want to give concrete answers, with significant innovations, to this time of profound transformation that is affecting the automotive industry as a whole.’”
