Evolution of GMC Sierra

First Generation (1988-1998)
The first generation Sierra was available as a standard cab, extended cab, and crew cab. It was based on the GMT400 platform. It was launched with two engine options including a V6 and a V8 that could generate excellent power in different situations.
Second Generation (1999-2006)
The second generation Sierra was launched as Sierra C3 and it came with a 6.0L V8 engine combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The name was changed to Sierra Denali in 2002. It had the ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds wait.

Fourth Generation (2014-2018)
The 4.8L V8 engine was discontinued and a new 6.6L V8 engine joined the lineup. It was available as a 6-speed automatic and 8-speed automatic transmission. A facelift version was launched in 2016 that came with several interior and exterior upgrades.
Fifth Generation (2019-Present)
The fifth-generation Sierra comes with five engine options including a 4.7L V6, 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.0L turbodiesel V6, 5.3L V8, and 6.2L V8. It’s available as a 6-speed, 8-speed, and 10-speed automatic transmission.
