Ford F250 Brief History
Ford F250 was launched with heavy-duty suspension and chassis in 1999. Its assembling plant was established in Louisville, Kentucky. Basically, it’s a continuation of heavy-duty trucks that were launched in 1958.
This model was particularly introduced to provide better towing capacity and higher payload to the customers who weren’t satisfied with the lighter chassis of the Ford F150.
Evolution of Ford F250
Ford has launched four generations of Ford F250 since its launch in 1999. The company has made innovative changes to the truck to continuously meet the rising demands of the customers.
First Generation (1999-2007)
First Generation F250 was available in three trim levels including XL, XLT, and Lariat. 5.4L V8 was the standard engine that could produce 235-horsepower. The users could also opt for a 6.8L V10 and a 7.3L diesel engine. The first generation was available as a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission.
The company introduced the King Ranch Package in 2003. Updated Triton Gasoline engines were added in 2005 and the four-wheel disc brakes were also added to handle this power.
Second Generation (2008-2010)
Second generation was available in six variants including, XL, XLT, Lariat, Cabela’s, King Ranch, and Harley Davidson. This time the company offered a 6.4L Powerstroke Diesel Engine along with 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 engines.
A Rapid-Heat Supplemental Cab Heater was also added to the vehicle. The company also added new interior door panels, center dash bezel, instrument cluster, and steering wheel.
Third Generation (2011-2016)
The third generation was launched with more powerful engines and a more prominent fascia. The users could choose between four trim levels including XL, XLT, Lariat, and King Ranch. The V10 engine was dropped and the users could now choose between a 6.2L V8 and a 6.7L turbocharged V8 engine.
The third generation was only offered as a six-speed automatic transmission while the manual transmission was dropped.
Fourth Generation (2017-Present)
The fourth generation was launched with a 6000 series aluminum-alloy body and a 95% high-strength steel frame. The stepped front fenders and stand-alone front grille were removed. It was initially available in five trim levels including XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.
Later on, the company launched the Limited variant in 2018. The company also offered more advanced safety features along with several tech features.
