Dodge Durango was launched as a midsize SUV in 1997 as the model year 1998. It featured a body-on-frame construction and shared its platform with Dodge Dakota and Ram Pickup. The production unit was initially established at the Newark Assembly plant in Newark and was later moved to the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan in 2010.
