Daewoo Nubira was launched as a compact car in 1997. It was introduced in three body configurations including a 4-door sedan, a 5-door station wagon, and a 5-door hatchback. In the United States, it was launched with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
However, the company offered a range of other engine options including a 1.3L four-cylinder, 1.5L four-cylinder, 1.6L four-cylinder, and a 1.8L four-cylinder engine in different markets. Daewoo Nubira was introduced as a replacement for Espero.
It was available as a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. A facelift version of Daewoo Nubira was introduced in 2000 that came with several interior and exterior upgrades. The passenger space was slightly increased. Moreover, it offered a more dynamic upright look of the era with its revamped front and a more angular rear.
It was replaced by J200 Daewoo Lacetti in 2004. However, the new version was still sold under the Chevrolet Nubira nameplate in the European market.
