Cadillac Escalade was launched as a luxury full-size SUV in 1998 as the model year 1999. The word Escalade is derived from the French verb Escalader which means “to climb or scale”. General Motors has launched five generations of Cadillac Escalade since 1998.
First Generation (1999-2001)
The first generation was launched as a five-door SUV. It was based on the GMT435 platform. It came with a 5.7L V8 engine combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. It offered a range of standard features including luxury leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front and rear seating surfaces, power-adjustable front bucket seats, and more.
Second Generation (2002-2006)
The second generation was launched as a five-door SUV and a 4-door sports utility vehicle. It came with two engine options including a 5.3L V8 and a 6.0L V8 engine. Fifth Generation (2021-Present)
The fifth generation was launched with two engine options including a 6.2L V8 and a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 engine. Both engines were combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It comes standard as a front-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive is also available.
