Buick LaCrosse Brief History
Buick LaCrosse was launched as a replacement for Buick Century and Regal in 2004 as the model year 2005. It was introduced as a mid-size sedan. It was marketed as Buick Allure in the Canadian market. It was introduced as a larger premium sedan in 2010. For the North American market, its production was discontinued in February 2019. However, it’s still produced in China.
Evolution of Buick LaCrosse
Buck has launched three generations of Buick LaCrosse since 2005.
First Generation (2005-2009)
The first generation was launched with a 3.6L V6 and a 3.8L V6 engine. It was available as a 4-speed automatic transmission. A facelift version was introduced in 2008 with redundant steering wheel controls, illuminating vanity mirrors, factory remote start feature and more. A high-performance model was also introduced in 2008 with a 5.3L V8 engine.
Second Generation (2010-2016)
The second generation was launched as a large size sedan. It came with a 2.4L four-cylinder and a 3.6L V6 engine. It was available as a six-speed automatic transmission. This generation was introduced as Buick Allure in the Canadian market and was renamed LaCrosse soon after the production began.
A facelift version was introduced in 2013 with semi-aniline leather seating, new wheel designs, and redesigned front and rear fascias.
Third Generation (2017-2019)
The third generation was launched with two engine options including a 2.5L four-cylinder and a 3.6L V6 engine. It was available as a six-speed automatic and a nine-speed automatic transmission. It was discontinued in the North American market but at the same time company introduced a facelift version of this vehicle in the Chinese market.
